Guidelines for Online RTI Portal

Please review the essential rules below:

1. Eligibility & Timings

Citizenship: Used only by Indian citizens to file Applications, First Appeals, and pay fees under RTI Act, 2005.
Exclusions: For public authorities other than Supreme Court of India, apply through respective Central/State portals.
Working Hours: Files strictly between 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Applications after 4:30 PM roll over to the next working day.

2. Application & Uploads

Mandatory Fields: Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are compulsory.
Text & Annexures: Write text in prescribed column. Upload attachments as PDF only (max size: 1MB).
Registration: Unique Registration/Diary number generated upon success to reach PIO/First Appellate Authority.

3. Fees & Exemptions

Fees: ₹10.00 per RTI application; ₹50.00 per First Appeal. Non-refundable.
Modes: Net Banking, UPI, QR Code.
BPL Exemption: BPL applicants exempt under Gauhati High Court Rules, 2008 (must upload BPL certificate).
Additional Charges: PIO will intimate additional copying fees, payable via portal.

4. Appeals & Tracking

First Appeal: Initiate directly from your RTI details page under "View Application" after 30 days. Cannot file online if original RTI was filed physically.
Status & Contact: Check status via "View" link. Provide email & phone for notifications.
